Standard Hammock

Published by Missy under General, Tutorials

I’ve just realized that I somehow failed to post a Standard Hammock Tutorial! How could I forget that?!
Anyway, it is (obviously) up now, although I’d imagine that if you’ve made any of the other hammocks in my tutorials then you can probably already make a standard. I suppose it is good [...]

Triangle Tutorial

Published by Missy under General, Tutorials

Well, it took a little longer than I had been planning on to sit down and do the Triangle Tutorial, but I was understandably (at least I hope understandably!) distracted by the massive cuteness that Hamlet and Othello represent.
I will warn you that the tutorial is quite long.  It isn’t terribly difficult, just difficult to [...]

Halloween

Published by Missy under General, Hammocks

I just put the boys’ Halloween cage together.. took a little longer than I anticipated (got a bit distracted) so the boys had a nice long play session with hubby and the kids today. By the time I finished putting the cage together they were eagerly watching, trying to figure out what the heck [...]

Video

Published by Missy under General, Tutorials

You may now view the slip-stitching video here. I don’t have a video camera, unfortunately, so this is taken on my regular camera. It gets a bit fuzzy at some points since the video function isn’t great, but it is definitely functional and isn’t fuzzy at any truly important parts.

Loving it!

Published by Missy under General, Tutorials

This machine is just so fantastic. I just finished my first piece without the machine tweaking out on me, and the stitches are just so perfect, even, and strong! I’ll be piecing together a double bunk soon and I’m a little bit nervous about how that will go (since I don’t know what [...]

Hiatus

Published by Missy under General, Tutorials

I will be taking a brief hiatus from tutorial posting. I just received a new (old) sewing machine from my grandmother and am going to need a few days of working with it before anything I sew is of tutorial quality. It is an ancient Kenmore (I don’t actually know what year it [...]

Pot Pie

Published by Missy under General, Rat Tails

I think my favourite thing to do with the rats is have dinner! I’m probably off my rocker, but I love to cook them smaller versions of whatever we are having for dinner. Tonight was, obviously, chicken pot pie. The boys just looked so adorable nosing around in the little pies that [...]

Bonding Pouch

Published by Missy under General, Tutorials

The bonding pouch tutorial is done!  You can see my son, Alex, modeling it on the left.  This pouch is completely seamless to discourage little ratties from chewing it up once they are inside.
I’ve made mine from fleece / cotton (I’m so in love with cotton prints) but if you make one that is [...]

Crabby bRats.

Published by Missy under General, Rat Tails

I just fall more and more in love with these little cuties every day. Yesterday they sat with me on my computer chair for basically the entire day. Othello mostly chose to sleep behind my neck (occasionally making a foray down to the chair) while Hamlet stretched out right behind my butt and [...]

Too cute to blog!

Published by Missy under General, Rat Tails

The rats are so cute that I’m having trouble finding time to blog. After just a few short days they are already unbelievably affectionate. Both boys have been basically sleeping on my neck all day and I’ve been covered in more kisses already than I think I’ve gotten from every other pet I’ve [...]
